The 3rd NCMC Laboratory Safety Knowledge Contest

On Dec.13, 2020, the 3rd Laboratory Safety Knowledge Contest named after NCMC was grandly held in the Jiangpu Auditorium of Nanjing Tech University.

As we know, the laboratory is the cradle of scientific research and innovation, and laboratory safety cannot be ignored. The purpose of this regular competition is to further enhance the safety awareness of graduate students, to fully popularize laboratory safety knowledge, and to jointly create a strong laboratory safety atmosphere. NCMC, as a qualified and experienced chemical trading company, provided strong support for this event. Ms. Meng, the vice general manager of NCMC and deputy of the Gulou District People's Congress in Nanjing, participated in this competition as an invited guest.

As soon as we entered the auditorium, we were impressed by the enthusiasm of the students. The auditorium accommodated nearly 1,000 people on site. Some of them were cheerleaders, some came to participate in the interaction, and still some want to spread more laboratory safety knowledge.

The top 8 teams in the finals were selected from the 19 teams in the preliminary round. The content of this competition covered the knowledge of laboratory specifications, instrument and equipment management, emergency rescue, electricity safety, and chemical management. The entire competition system was rigorous, fair and orderly. Not only the players on the stage were answering seriously, but even the audience under our stage silently answered the questions when they saw the big screen, A or B?

For NCMC, annual safety knowledge training to employees is essential as well, including storage of chemical warehouses, safe production, laws and regulations, and individual typical cases. Besides that, our staff conduct safety officer examinations and reviews every year. It is our consensus that security issues should not be underestimated and everyone should follow the principle of "safety first, prevention first."

The successful holding of this competition not only enhanced the students' awareness of experimental safety, but also reminded us again to eliminate the hidden dangers of safety. The competition not only strengthened the partnership between NCMC and Nanjing Tech University, but also greatly contribute to the efforts of both sides to foster talents and shoulder social responsibility.
